Okay, we can't promise it's a chance to
play in an LPGA event...and there's no big check (or check of any
size!) for the winner.
But we can
promise our new Skills
Challenge event will be great fun... and there
will be prizes!
Modeled
(loosely and without any of the high anxiety) on the Golf
Channel's "Big Break" series, our Skills Challenge is
a series of contests designed for players of all ability
levels, in which you can put your game to the test.
Contests will include tee shots, pitching, chipping,
bunkers, putting -- all those basic golf shots we've been working all
season to perfect! The better you do in each contest, the
more points you accummulate.

Dancing will be optional, but we're putting a special "South
of the Border" spin on our annual Fall Outing Skins Game, which takes
place Sunday, Sept 20 at AJ Jolly GC in Alexandria, KY.
The fun-format
event is a two-person scramble where the two teams in each foursome
compete to win a "skin" (a.k.a., a prize) on each
hole.
A pre-round
"South of the Border" Putting Contest will benefit Go Red
for Women! (see below) and after the round, we'll enjoy
a "Fiesta Feast" buffet and award prizes.
Line up a
partner to play with (guests are welcome!) or we'll pair you up.
Either way, we'll need your HCI or avg score when you
register. $75 for members, $90 for
non-members includes greens fee, cart, the
buffet and great door prizes. Click to register.
Register before Sept 1 to get an extra door prize
ticket! Deadline is Sept 10.

In conjunction with our Fall Outing, the Chapter is once
again participating in Go
Red for Women! -- the American Heart
Association's campaign to fight heart disease.
Whether or not
you can play in the event on Sept 20, we hope you'll consider joining
fellow members to help wipe out the No. 1 killer of women in the
U.S.
If you're playing in the event, your donation is an
entry into the South of the Border Putting Contest. Multiple
entries are welcome!
The Chapter will forward all donations to the
American Heart Association. All those who donate will receive
acknowledgement of their support from the Chapter.

Now that
weeknight leagues are winding down, why not come out and play with
the Chapter's weekend Travel League?
It's a
pay-as-you-play league that plays Saturday or Sunday at courses
throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky -- thanks to
the tireless efforts of our TL Captain Sharon Kearns.
League info, to check upcoming dates and/or put your name of the
TL sign up list.

Semifinal
Update
Our Cincinnati Chapter Champions traveled to Chestnut
Ridge GC (near Pittsburgh) for the August 8 Ohio Valley EWGA
Championship semifinal.
While none will advance to the Series final next month at The
PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie (FL), a good time was had by all and we
had two pretty close chances:
Candy Begnoche finished 2nd low
net in the first flight, and our scramble team (Wilma Kumler,
Sara Freitag, Sherry Black,Tina Smith) finished
just one stroke behind the winning team from Canton.
Cheers to all who competed! We expect you'll be defending your
titles at our 2010 Chapter Championship!
